If you live in the UK you may of seen my picture in the paper this week! The Metro; a free national paper, did an article on the house my Husband and I manifested and bought last year.
I wanted to give you the behind the scenes story.
I love property; it’s one of my passions! I have been buying and renovating property since my early twenties. It’s a great way to work yourself up the ladder, buy a property and do it up. I’ve been doing that for about ten years. Property is definitely one of my passions.
At the beginning of 2017 the house we were in was fully refurbished. We’d bought it a 1.5 year’s earlier, it was an old people’s home that we had loving restored and I was bored but every time I thought about moving though I just couldn’t find the energy.
Then something happened which changed that.
My husbands ex wife moved to a property in the next street, well actually it was around the corner from us, it was just a little too close for comfort. I rang my friend to talk it through with her and luckily she gave me the most amazing piece of advice.
“Maybe it’s time you move on, maybe it’s a sign that you need to move up in the world.” My friend suggested.
The reframe was perfect, I was now set on moving and was just following the sign.
Matt was in India at the time, we agreed we would move and set about thinking about what our dream house would look like.
Initially I started looking at things just above our price bracket, nothing felt right and then Matt declared if we were going to buy our next house lets really go for it! At this point I thought, yes, what am I doing I am playing small.
I’ve had many examples in my life where I have manifested things, once you get the hang of it, it’s so much fun! So I thought right let’s test this stuff.
The list got longer. A fire place, loads of character, a place we could grow our own food, five bedrooms, I even had this idea that I wanted a room away from our living space that an au pair could have. We love wooden floors and high ceilings and I actually thought we would end up in a Victorian terrace. It’s also important to me that we use the house and make it an asset. Most of the time our houses are just a cost, there is money tied up in them which we are not leveraging. The house we bought needed to work for us and longer term make us money.
Then something else happened which really shaped our destiny.
Matt was coming home from a work trip, he always has the same guy pick him up at the airport who he has an executive car hire firm. When he picked him up he told Matt all about the people he regularly picked up at Goodwood, celebrities people flying in from all over the world for the event.
Goodwood puts on a number of big horse racing events a year and two big car rallies. People fly in from all over the world. He described how accommodation was in short supply and how houses in the area were in demand to be rented.
The area was about thirty mins away from where we currently lived, we didn’t want to be too far away from Matt kids so it seemed perfect.
This started the basis of our search, we upped our price and started looking at houses in the million pound mark.
Up came our current house! I freaked out at the price but we decided to go and visit it and once inside I could feel the love that the previous owners had put into it.
As we sat in the lounge having tea, I stared up at the 40ft ceilings and felt so at home in the place. The living room really has the wow factor.
We looked at the house twice before we got to the stage of putting in an offer.
The gentleman who owned the house had had it on for 1.2 million but dropped the price as no one had bought it – then began a nervous couple of discussions before we agreed on a price.
All the way through the process I visualized us living in the house, in my mediation I could see the barns finished and our little homestead coming to life. All the way through the process I just held the believe that it would all work out.
The fact that they gave us the money was also a tense period. We had really pushed ourselves and both Matt and I had to clear out our savings to pay for the stamp duty and fees, everything just felt right so we held the faith.
We have been in our house a year. We moved in and got married in the same month; it was a massive up leveling. Don’t be afraid to dream this is the first step to creation. Whatever the mind can dream it can achieve.
